We Navigate Together Without Insurance at the Helm

Why We Don’t Work Directly with Insurance Companies

More Time for You. More Clarity for Me.

Insurance companies often set reimbursement rates that don’t reflect the time, training, and care therapists provide. This can lead to long hours, constant administrative stress, and ultimately burnout. When clinicians are stretched too thin, the quality of care suffers. By working outside the insurance system, I can focus on your needs without compromise and provide the attention and consistency you deserve.

Your Story Stays Between Us

One reason I don’t work with insurance is to protect your privacy. Insurance companies can request access to your records at any time, which means your  personal details might be reviewed by someone outside our work together. They also require a formal diagnosis for reimbursement, even when that label may not be helpful. By staying out of insurance, I can focus on supporting you without unnecessary pathologizing or outside involvement.

I choose not to bill insurance so I can better safeguard your confidentiality. When insurance is involved, they can review your records, meaning private details of our sessions may be shared beyond our work together. They also require an official diagnosis, which can sometimes feel limiting or stigmatizing. By remaining independent from insurance, I’m able to offer support without outside oversight or unnecessary labels.

Let’s Do Therapy on Your Terms

Insurance companies often make decisions about your treatment without ever meeting you, guided by rules, formulas, or budgets rather than your real needs. These decisions can limit care, delay progress, and interfere with the therapeutic relationship. By not working with insurance, I ensure every choice about your treatment is motivated by you and your goals, not someone behind a desk.

You’re Choosing to Paddle Out Instead of Drift

Choosing to pay out-of-pocket for therapy can feel like a significant commitment. We ask this because it allows us to protect your privacy, focus fully on your care, and avoid unnecessary labeling that insurance often requires. By stepping outside the insurance system, we can dedicate our time to you, tailor treatment to your needs, and maintain a level of confidentiality and trust that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.

Out-of-Network Doesn’t Mean Out of Options

Many clients can get reimbursement through their insurance’s out-of-network benefits. If that’s available to you, I can provide a monthly superbill to help with the process. And if you’re unsure how it works, I’m more than happy to walk you through it.

You Don’t Have to Navigate This Alone

If you have questions about navigating the system to receive the care you deserve, please contact us. We’re happy to talk you through what to discuss with your insurance company so you can best access your benefits.
